Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Inspect lifting equipment
  • Job hazards are identified and required action is taken to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards
       
Element: Operation plan, safe work method statement and other work specifications are reviewed and followed
       
Element: Crane crew and relevant personnel are briefed in accordance with operation plan and safe work method statement
       
Element: Damaged and defective lifting equipment is tagged and segregated for testing, repair or disposal by a competent person
       
Element: Secure outriggers or attachments
  • Outriggers, counterweights or attachments are secured and stowed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operation plan
       
Element: Outrigger or attachments packing is dismantled and stowed securely
       
Element: Pack and store tools and lifting equipment
  • Lifting equipment is cleaned as required and stored appropriately in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Additional lifting equipment is returned to depot, marked off and stored in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Travel path is confirmed with operation plan, safe work method statement and other work specifications
       
Element: Mobile crane is configured for travel in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications
  • Workplace documentation is completed in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Required workplace records are updated and processed accurately and promptly

Assessment Tasks
